He smiled at her sadly between two puffs and told her about music and books and she liked it. Then he hugged her and she closed her eyes. When she opened them, he showed her all his scars and she touched all of them softly. For every scar she touched, a new wound appeared on her body in the exact same place as his. He wrapped her up in bandages like a cocoon starting from her feet. When he finished, he sat next to her and waited patiently for her transformation. Hmm. A butterfly without wings.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
