One night I tamed a star. Without falling, it came off from the distant universe and slipped tenderly in the sky glued to my window. I knotted a thread from the cobweb of my thoughts and fixed it with adjustable knots to the hidden margin beneath the curtain. It didn't resist at all. On the contrary, it seemed to whisper to me something about the feeling of being inimitable in a far too hurried world. At night, I make wishes and entrust them into her arms while she pretends to fall, glittering until I fall asleep, fulfilled.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
