Bring me my pillows. More. Bring all of them. Here we go. The small ones as well. Now take the bedsheet. Hold on tight. Not like this, the other way around. Bring me that big box. Yes, empty it and but everything under the bed. Yes, all pilled up. Quiet or she'll hear us. Close the door. Don't slam it. Come on, man, can you be more quiet? All of you, come here, next to me. Yes. Wait, we need one more thing. Shh or she'll hear us. Scissors. I'll cut, not you, step aside. Get yourself another pair of scissors if you want to participate. Faster because we need a lot. One, two, three and: Happy birthday, mommy!

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
