The gang was screwed exactly like the thoughts in her head. And not only with the names of great artists on the walls, but also with little men, who wanted to be as such. Just like that, their names to endure, written in a gang with capital letters, proof of a career out of the ordinary. For now, you could only read your name on the bulletin board. She started with the rejected list, since everyone was squeezing to the other one. Trying to squeeze and squeeze in and then straight wailing and disappointment were waiting for most. It wasn't there. Great, she said lightly. Her eyes were now following up the magic list. 16, 15, 14. I die.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In February 2023, the group has 10,500 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
