Take your money out, miss, and this old woman will read your fortune in the coffee grounds, tell you everything you don't know about what was and will be. You, my fairy, have wings, thin and delicate like the skin of steaming milk. You thought the skies are high and never ending, but he attached two silver coins from the peacock's eyespots, and they stuck to the ground. You dragged them through dirt and scattered colored down on the streets. Now you are looking for him, in order to return the silver sharpened on the anvil of pain, inside his chest, his belly and in the hand that did not comfort you. Then you will lose yourself. The bloody dagger is in your purse.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2023, the group has 11,260 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
