I had started to feel aggravated by his polite way of getting my chair for me, by his refined praise of the cherry note in the wine, by the frivolous way in which he threw exhaustive holistic and holistic together in one sentence. And then, there was his shiny bald spot and the spittle that he lisped into my coffee while getting excited about Aristotle's syllogisms. When I heard him start to go into what an opportunity gold mining was, I just about lost it. My place or yours? I ask. No way, I hear him say, I live with my mommy.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.500 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
