13 I lie in the bathtub with both wrists slit. 12 I collapse. 11 I scream. 12 On the phone, a cold voice tells me there has been an accident and he's dead. 9. The phone is ringing. 8. I go to bed. 7. I go out for a while to buy cigarettes until you calm down, I love you. 6 Fuck you, I don't want to see you now. 5 I'll be away only for six months, this is the last one, we need this money. 4 I can't believe you're leaving me alone. 3 I've something to tell you, I agreed to go on the mission. 2 Me too, a lot. 1 Honey, today we are going to see our baby on the echo, I love you.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
