New Mickey Mouse tracksuit, little man boxers with lollipop patterns, LED sneakers. A little cotton bag with my initials embroidered on it, which I took a wet wipe from each time I peed, until my willy started to burn. I later found out they were hand wipes. The teacher checked our hair to see if we had lice, and if we had our nails cut. A devilish kid stole my fire truck, another one threw a chicken wing at me. Scratched, with my toys broken and a missing sock, that's how my first day of kindergarten ended.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
