I don't understand. Speak slowly, please. And use small words. I don't know what a genetic condition caused by the presence of an extra chromosome in the body means. Yes, I know. That's what people on the street say sometimes. That I'm not normal. I'm a little person, with almond eyes and I'm never gonna be a Math Olympian. My IQ is under 70. I like stories, I even go to the theatre. If I am special? I'm not. I'm like every one of you, I fulfill my potential with the best I've got and an extra chromosome of love.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
