Just a bunch of fresh lovage. No, don't bring any more wine. It makes me dizzy. And it stains my soul with a doubtful joy. The gap will be filled again as soon as you walk out the door. Don't bring candies either. I'm fooling the taste of your departures for a while. Flowers? No, thanks. I don't want to count whether the petals end in Love Me or Love Me Not. Don't bring the embarrassment of the moments after, nor the promise that you will leave her at some point. I need lovage. To finish the soup. Have you decided, do you stay to eat?

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
