The tyrannical clock, the ancient floor and Him: squeak, tick, squeak, tack. His footsteps lined onto my spine. Red nose, from which the blood flowed, staining his mouth. His lips opened a bloody vortex. He swallowed my soul and scribbled it with the chalk from his face. Charcoal gaze, ridden by two eyebrows, arches to hell. The devilish smile got into his eyes, from which black cockroaches sprang, devouring me. His tuft of synthetic hair got into my mouth, tying my tongue. A clown appeared in my sleep.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2021, the group has 6.400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
