The air in me broke as with the sweat of my brow beading in my eyelashes I was grinding away at what I dreamed was our sacred place. You know me as clumsy, I'd often swing my bat and hammer my fingers until we both went nuts. I furnished in style to my soul's liking and face, maybe that's why you felt entitled to come muddy-booted into my dream house and be my nightmare. You desecrated me and suddenly set fire to what I built myself. I hid in the attic to drink my minds out, but you burned the ladder first.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2021, the group has 6.400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
