TThe father takes the chip out of his palm with the pocketknife he has hidden from the Immortals, on conservation's day. He caresses his boy and excitedly shows him the drop of blood. It's life, it is more alive than all the days we live in a replay. You're 500 years old, and you're still 13, the same age as when they have blocked your growth. We'll run among the Living Ones. Dad, wait, they're going to kill us, says the boy. Yes, but by then we will feel. Dad, stop, you are delusional again. Look, take this candy. We'll grow old together, I promise you.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In June 2021, the group has 6.650 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
