50-year-old, rich and single.25-year-old, pretty and broke. Wedding, happiness, love. If anything happens to me, you should know that the fortune I amassed in the house without a number is all yours. You're all I have. The night she called the doctor and he said that there was nothing he could do, she went searching for the room with the safe, or the house without a number, as he called it. The next day he found her dead inside an empty room, face frozen into a dark, or rather obscene rictus. I forgot to mention, the house without a number was the home of my heart. I know you've been poisoning me.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
