When we argue, my anger would take me to the other side. Then a bridge grew from my heart and stopped at him. And just like that, we'd walk this bridge between us without speaking, and each waited for the other to cross it first. Once I thought he was coming towards me. In fact, he started to tear it down. I ran rather quickly towards him shouting for it to stop, but I got stuck halfway across the bridge. Then he went over the edge and I crashed. Beware of the bridges between you, for beneath them is the abyss of loneliness.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2021, the group has 6.400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
