I was weeding the garden and marvelling at how blue the grass I was stepping on turned when I felt a finger tap me on the shoulder. I turned as if burned. My skin turned blue where it touched me and I was beginning to understand. Everything spoke to me in a metallic creak, turquoise grass rustled in my eardrum the symphony of germination, birds flaunted their exotic dance on a cerulean blue branch, aristocratic blood swirled ceaselessly through my veins. He touched me a second time. Oh, you bastard, you drank my Mona again?

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2021, the group has 6.400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
