The copies birth giver machinery. The red button. Press. Sheet number 1: bare-assed Nora, in the vineyard. She laughs as if she knows that over the years the photocopier is still the only one who will have seen her like that. Sheet 79: a two-petal poppy. 857: Nora getting her lips closer to his scar. Out of a cigarette shame. 89953: Nora lying flat on the asphalt, in a blood-soaked red dress. Press again. Only the devil could invent the photocopier of memories. He is the only one who brings the infinite photocopying of suffering to the world.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2021, the group has 3.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
