She kissed her husband and started washing the dishes like she did every day. In the meantime, she took another look at the teleshopping to see what the rich are getting. She swept and washed the living room, the bathroom, and then followed the little room in the back - the one with the closet. She hurriedly washed the floor and then pulled out the closet so she could wash the door frame. Quickly, because it was almost 5 and she didn't want her husband to catch her there. That strange whimper was heard behind the door again. If it was whining. She did not know. It's not a wife's job to ask questions.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2021, the group has 3.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
