The most famous gangster in the world was not Al Capone or Lucky Luciano, but Eva Ionescu and you didn't hear about her because she doesn't exist. Legend has it that Eve emigrated to America in 1918 and demanded a change of name to Johnson and a date of birth on January 32. Authorities disagreed, arguing that February 1 is just fine, so a trial ensued in which she proved that after 31 follows 32. In 1936, when she was caught, she proved to the court that January 32nd just doesn't exist, therefore neither does she.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2021, the group has 3.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
