Many years we've spent inside the sleeping car, crammed in a single bed, for that's what we were: one and the same. When we made love, we would sink so deep into one another that we sometimes forgot to separate. The years passed gently by, rocking to the rhythm of the wheels against the rails, until our seed began to germinate, and then we were hungry. We put on some clothes and made for the restaurant car. Shock and horror on the diners' faces. They've never seen lovers like us before, grown onto one another as a grafted trunk.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In February 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
