The day grew darker because of the storm and the corridor was pitch-black. The blade glinted towards me as lightning struck. I ran, but I could tell he was chasing me and I kept running faster and faster. Inside the restaurant car, light blinded me, I crashed into the first table and hit my head against the next one. When I came round, I was in a kitchen. My whole body felt numb. "A well-done steak at table five and one of the good wines. "My head was throbbing, a brackish taste in my mouth. "Keep him alive, the fridge's not working."

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In February 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
