After the cake, the power went out and the vibrations started. Cutlery was tottering and glasses were breaking. Then, a green light flooded the room, coming from two giant, round drone-like disks. All the guests were shocked. Even the fiddlers were staring each other in terror. Only the guy playing the cimbalom was still feebly hitting the chords. Two flimsy little men with big eyes and elongated faces materialised in front of them on the scene, next to the lead singer. Florine boss, give us a dedication too. The one with the spaceships.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.500 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
