The crones on the bench marvelled with their palms over the mouth. The kids threw pebbles for a while, till they got bored. Two persons from Asia took a lot of pictures, and ended by taking a selfie and posting it immediately on Facebook. Mrs. Nuţi's Pekinese barked at her and ran scared into the bushes. Ol' Fane from No 4, grumpier since his wife left him, decreed: your modern art is crap. The janitor showed up in slippers and undershirt: 'tis only some drainpipes and wire, the guys from the junkyard is right here.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
