Citizen Popescu. Here. Citizen Popescu. Here. What are you two doing here, coming forth freely and of your own accord? Wait and see, your Honour. We got married 24 years ago. We started cutlery and two rugs criss-crossing our apartment. By hard work we constructed this big house you can see in the pictures. We have a first floor and a garden and a son we are very proud of, he's a College student now. We've even built ourselves a fireplace, but no matter how hard we stoke up the fire, it is not warming. We came to you to unlock us.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
