I got married when I was young, I divorced too early. During the day I took care of the child, at night I worked in a select bar. I was getting tip, stupid jokes, ass bites, and a poor salary at the end of the month. I had money for milk, nappies, potatoes, bread and launder. I often fell asleep watching my child play with modelling clay lumps. His little hands built palaces. He became an architect. My stomach hurts every time I walk into a select bar.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
