The woman waits with emotion in the back room, glued to the window. When he signals to her with the flashlight, she turns on the light bulb. He lets his bathrobe slip on the floor, begins to move lasciviously around the room, undoes his hair from the bun; the man takes a white sheet of paper, draws a heart on it with a red card, and sticks it to the window; she does the same thing, but because she has no carioca, she makes her heart with lipstick. As they watched their love through telescopes in the bedroom, in the dark, the woman's husband wrote love messages to a mistress.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
