Why's your hair so disheveled? It's because of the wind. The woman frowns. There was not a trace of wind outside, inside even less. She carefully looked around and then she noticed the wet dress. Where were you? I went horseback riding, said the little girl blushing. The woman froze. She did hear lies before but such nonsense - never! Then she discovered the muddy little shoes right under the nightstand. On the nightstand - an open book. She looked down and read. Prince Charming was lifting the girl on the horse, and they flew together through the deserted length of the sea.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2021, the group has 4.300 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
