In the anatomy lab, students are gawping their mouths at a body that no longer resembles a human. Full of formalin, dry and of a strange color, dissected and with the stomach in sight, seems rather a dummy, but the pungent smell of formalin and a little rotten reminds them that it is human. The teacher explains them, some take notes, others listen to him carefully, but most look on hypnotized. Eliza fainted over the body, and the golden heart around her neck fell directly into the dissected stomach. Class is dismissed.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
