Lately, when I go out with the kids on the street, I avoid eye contact with the people around me to quickly kill their desire to find out if they're all four mine and if we keep on having. Same today, I just don't know what made me look around and I saw an old lady walking towards us. I lower my eyes regularly. However, I hear: are they all yours? Something in her eyes made me answer calmly: yes. Her eyes filled with tears and she said: How happy you are, I have no one.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
