Or so says the one that's looking at me like he had just seen a ghost. Truth is, I cannot move but at least I can stutter out a thing or two. And I'm asking him, what is this that I'm hearing about a coma? Is this some kind of a joke my wife made up? Godness, this is unbelievable! Everyone knows about you being tied up to these machines for years. Your wife is here as well. She kept on waiting for you. And then I ask him, who the hell are you to know everything about this situation? And he says: One of the gravediggers, you got lucky that you coughed right when we started to close up the coffin.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
