Dear Alexei, I remember the first thought, the first feeling when I first saw you. Regret. Because I brought you, pure being, into an unclean world. Quickly, you have calmed my fears. You're my delight and my heart is filled with joy even when you cry that I won't let you play Minecraft as much as you want (no, you can't all day). May our steps be easy, and our heart rejoice in the journey of our lives. Your mother kisses you (the one you call ugly when she holds your leg, so you don't break into sweets).

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
