She is wearing cyclamen lipstick. His favourite. The gauzy summer dress with big floral prints sometimes rose slightly from the wind. She would make sure the food doesn't burn. Beans with pork. She knew it was his favourite and that he was joking when he said that one day he would be propelled into space from so much beans. I like it a lot, but you're exaggerating. Only beans every day. He's not back yet? The neighbor asked. No. Maybe I shouldn't gave him such a long shopping list. However, three years is a long time. Maybe tomorrow.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
