I put on my best suit. I did my hair. I was about to meet my new girlfriend. A wonder woman as I did not think could exist today. I adjusted my teleporter to the coordinates of the meeting place. I pressed the button and woke up in a dark place. This is not where I was supposed to be. I looked around and couldn't believe my eyes. I was in jail. Hey, it's a mistake, I have nothing to look for here. This is your place, a thick voice said. If you only knew how long we've been following you.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2021, the group has 5.600 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
