My father was a hunter. He romanced my momma with a bison fur, which he himself skinned, with his bare hands from the beast's body. And then it turned out that this stunt was committed by my uncle. My poor mother, what else to do? Children. I have brothers and sisters. The boys, experts in stone battles, inherited their father's sloping brow, as well as his quick wit. The girls, vegetarians and hairy, looked very much like their mother, princesses full of airs and graces. What can I say being the first born, I used to clean everyone of fleas.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2021, the group has 6.400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
