I stand on the edge of the steep coast. My soul is a desert yearning for love. I breathe in. Three, two, one. One year's passed from the time I gathered everything good in me and gave it to you as a companion. Once again. Three, two. We were two. Now I am just one. One who pointlessly awaited your return. Three. Three steps are now between me and the end. My heart is hammering inside my chest. It's still alive, I tell myself. I close my eyes, put in my earphones. Freddie sings to me about miracles. I leave the chasm behind. I will love again. Love myself.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2021, the group has 6.400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
