Last night I prayed to God to free me of loneliness. This morning, on the street, I felt a presence behind me. A dragonfly was flapping its wings right next to my shoulder. The dragonfly started talking to me. I tripped over my own feet; it was too much even for a dreamer. I realised that people saw no dragonfly, only my eyes could see it. I was afraid it would disappear so I took a walk with it through the whole city. At one point, a little girl stood in front of me and yelled: Look mommy, a buttfly.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2021, the group has 6.400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
