She laughed all night like she hadn't done in a long time. She drank a little, but it was normal, because she had finished the project she had been working on for more than a year, day and night. Everyone was talking about big plans for the future, and Mihai had insisted on her. Maybe he had told her when he asked if she wanted to go out with him on the weekends. When she got home, she prepared a warm bath as usual. Then she put on her headphones and dipped lightly into the hot water that numbs his body and thoughts. You could barely feel the edge of the sharp blade. Only water slowly changes colour.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2021, the group has 6.400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
