Howdy. Did you come again? Bukowski, here's some red country wine, it's natural. Cohen, don't start playing the guitar, down a shot of plum brandy first. Edgar Allan Poe has arrived too. Brandy, wine? I'll prepare immediately a meatball soup and some mashed beans with baked peppers. Talk to each other about what you've been writing lately. I finished the food. Charles, Leonard, Edgar? Hello? What do you mean what emergency do I have? My relatives leave the table every night. At the same time. Hello? Oh, this damn police. Let me see. What a good brandy. And the wine is crazy good, you can feel the grapes.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2021, the group has 6.400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
