She is still there, still beautiful, still mine. She is trying on the 274th dress and the 147th pair of shoes. I'll be ready in a second, she says. In the meantime, her hair grew so long, that I threw it out the window; the neighbours are climbing up and down it all the time. She only became a little bit older. I became older. I don't remember what I look like anymore; I haven't looked in a mirror in 487 years. I am sorry you have to wait for me, she says. I'll be ready in a second. She doesn't know I don't mind. I could look at her for all eternity.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In June 2021, the group has 6.650 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
