I took it for us. For you, to have me. I stand still like a tree. I'm waiting for you. You said you were coming. Are you still coming? You told me before and you didn't come. I cried. Too much. You told me you were late, you had to cut the country in two to get to me. I cut myself too. My love flowed through my veins. Love for me. It stayed for you. All. You told me you were looking forward to seeing me. I burned myself too. On the feet. With the lighter. Trees tremble with life. I do not. You came. I'm ash. The cottage as well. You stand still like a tree. I'm waiting for you.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In June 2021, the group has 6.650 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
