I can't understand how we are still alive, how we still adjust our steps to those of the other, how we still check, feeling alone, the lock on the other's door, to see if it's locked twice, how we still look through the eyes of the other, how, out of an old habit of love, we still feel with the fingers the space between naked bodies, now larger and larger. No bullet left. Everything that lavish love killed, lavish hate will set free. Rien ne va plus, in life's casino. Everything on hate. Everything to the winner. Who pulls the trigger first stays alive.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In June 2021, the group has 6.650 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, setting their texts within the limit of 500 symbols (in Romanian language, so in English the limit might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise with an almost daily changed topic. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
