Cut, cut, cuuuuut! This can't be possible. Just can't be. It's obvious that you're city people. Miss, yes, you, the one with the peasant top, apron and the peasant shoes, you've got to stand in this old, grass-covered yard, by the wooden fence. And you, young man, you're out on the street, on the other side of the fence. You're holding daffodils. Not orchids. Who bought the orchids? Orchids don't grow on the meadow. Good. You take the daffodils and give them to her. As a thank you, the dazzling peasant girl, quote unquote, gives you a little kiss over the fence.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In June 2021, the group has 6.650 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
