You were born normal, most probably, but your mother made you a coward and a mean man. That hell of a beat your father gave you after you screwed your knees for the first time. That's what I'm talking about. Ever since then, you are spinning around like your life is a washing machine. Up and down. Pairless. No, your wedding ring is not a window and I am not the ocean. You were already in pieces when you fell into my suitcase. Fear, violence, shame. Yes, the child is crying in his room because you wanted to slap him. You either apologize, or you can take your phone, your passport and your card and leave on your deserted island.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In June 2021, the group has 6.650 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
