God was dozing off on His throne when the door banged against the wall, and the on-duty saint barged in. God, someone is causing a ruckus at the Gate, he says that he's forcing it open, St. Peter is gone, I'm covering for him, but I don't know what to do, that wacko says that he built churches and gave alms to the poor, but I don't have it in me to let him in. God? There He goes. What do you want, get it over with, I'm busy, thundered God from the back of a cloud stationed above the Gate. Dear God, send me back quickly, I have some unfinished business with a blond, the address is Roman, Virtuţii st., no. 12bis. I will build a church, let me die if I don't.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In June 2021, the group has 6.650 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
