This theme came at the right moment, in line with the drops of the latest time, she was thinking. In the beginning of the beginning, she had done a contract with herself. Whatever might be, she will keep going for a year, let's say a year and a half, so that everything will certainly be ready. And then things had happened in cascades of absurdity, awful, chaotic, a grotesque evil getting worse and worse, in the world, in people. Somehow the contract helped her resist. She was not well, but she was here, a survivor. Today though, is June 29. She has not been sleeping for two nights. And inside she's feeling the scream, growing, gargling, strangling her.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In July 2021, the group has 6.800 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
