My mom was an elementary school teacher, and she was taking me in her classroom. I asked her to write down my name in her classbook. She added me at the end, written in pencil. At 4 years old I was reading, writing, and doing calculus like the best student in fourth grade. In the evening, there were alphabetization classes. New Dawns newspaper wrote about old man Vasile who accepted learning how to write and read with the help of the four year old boy. Back in those years, teachers were asked to write patriotic quotes on the fences. I was hunting their mistakes. That's when I got this flaw. Beware, I have my eyes on you.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In July 2021, the group has 6.800 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
