I tread barefoot on the emptiness of your mouth. The moving sands of the words you throw at me, I knead them between my fingers. I dominate your throat with my heel. The ruin of my flesh howls with tongue of fire. From today, I'm kicking you out of me. I put my hand up to my elbow in your belly and pull out the end of a gut. I turn it into a pen and write calligraphically my new life. I am no longer a shipwrecked creature, a kind of hourglass made from flesh in which you flow. I declare myself the goddess of the mold that eats the letters of unspoken words.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
