I'm crying. It's nothing new, I've always cried. I keep discovering inside of me a new spring from which tears stream. At first I cried as a signal that I was hungry, thirsty, or that I wanted to pee, poo. The years passed and I cried out of spite, fear, love, jealousy, suffering, to rebirth and joy. Then I cried with emotion, pain, pity, pride, anger. No cry is like the other, and after each one I am stronger, braver, better. I can't let go of it.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
