Matthew had speech impediments. That's why he wasn't the best student. In his spare time he practiced the guitar. He didn't go out much, he was very shy. In June he went to the mountains with his classmates. In the evening, one of them brought a guitar and asked him to rattle something. As soon as his fingers touched the strings, the campfire began to move like a tame snake. Those present said they saw Jimi Hendrix himself in the flames. What is certain is that they all finally understood what Matthew meant.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
