Auch. My hand hurts. I can't see anymore. Wait. The woman shuffles her feet and shouts unremittingly, her eyes gazing into nowhere. Her hands want to loosen his, but he won't let go. He always catches her, guides her patiently and his soft voice floats around her, covering her like a cocoon. Just a little bit. You can do it. I am here with you. Yes, like this. There's a step here. Every day, for the last 20 years, they climb the Everest up and down thousands of times. An accident is not the end. Be it even a stroke

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
